Highland Alpaca Beige Wool Throw
Description
The Highland throw has a high weight, a powerful expression and details in the weave structure. The design is based on the outer edge, or selvedge, found on woven textiles. With the Highland, designer Cecilie Manz has transformed the selvedge from a practical necessity in textile production into a discreet and elegant motif. On the throws, the stripe is just a little more marked and lies as a single dotted line along the edge, resembling a simple, coloured seam.
The Highland is made from 70% baby alpaca and 30% Peruvian highland wool, which is known for its unique properties. The wool is thermoregulatory, meaning it can be up to seven times warmer than sheep's wool when it's cold, while appearing light and cool when temperatures rise. This is because alpaca wool fibres are hollow, and therefore naturally insulating. In addition, alpaca fibres are water-repellent and breathable, and the wool is hypoallergenic as it contains no lanolin, making it suitable for allergy sufferers.
