Gloster Sway Teak Arm Chair with stainless steel meteor finish; teak frame and graphite sling. Also available with white finish and seagull sling.
The Sway Stacking Arm Chair lives up to its name with a gracefully arched back that gives the taut sling seat its sway. This comfortable chair is constructed of solid hardwood teak with powder-coated aluminum details that is available in Meteor. The all-weather sling seat comes in graphite. Gloster buffed teak benefits from an enhanced surface preparation procedure, where the natural oils already contained within the teak are brought to the surface and burnished to produce a rich sheen and a consistent colour. If you intend to use your furniture indoors or under cover outside (where it will not get wet), the teak will retain much of its original colour and the soft sheen of its buffed finish. Sling is a generic term for a woven, open-mesh fabric made from a vinyl coated, high strength polyester yarn. For our sling furniture we use only the highest quality Textilene ® and Batyline ® woven vinyl. Historically, slings are found combined with powder-coated aluminium frames. However, due to its inherent good looks, exceptional comfort and practicality, we have designed products that combine sling with both teak and stainless steel frames. One of the main benefits of sling is comfort. When stretched taught between two side frames, sling provides a yielding seating surface that moulds to your individual body shape. Our Textilene ® and Batyline ® woven vinyl is resistant to fading, mildew and wear & tear under the most severe weather conditions. Stainless steel is the generic name for a number of different steels used primarily for their resistance to corrosion. The one key element they all share is a certain minimum percentage of chromium of 10.5%. Although other elements, particularly nickel and molybdenum, are added to improve corrosion resistance, chromium is always the deciding factor. However, despite its various additions stainless steel still behaves as steel, and even the highly alloyed stainless steel grades such as 316 still contain a minimum of 62% iron. Gloster manufactures using 304 grade stainless steel coated with an electro-statically applied, powder coat finish. The electro-static application method ensures 100% coverage of the metal’s surface area and provides a consistent and tough finish that far exceeds other conventional paint finishes. The resulting finish is knock and scratch resistant, impervious to moisture, highly resistant to corrosion and easy to clean.
